Every summer, we take a trip to Bear Lake to stay in my father in law's cabin. The kids LOVE this trip! Abby was so excited, she had her suit case packed 2 days before.
On our way there, the moon (or maybe the sun... we couldn't quite come to a set conclusion) was bright red/orange! It was amazing to see. I took as many pictures of it as I could, but they really don't do it justice.
This was our cabin!
The views of the lake from the balcony are amazing!

Ok so.... a few lessons learned the first day. Me, Barry, and the kids headed out for a family ride on the 4 wheelers and the ranger.......

Ok so.... a few lessons learned the first day. Me, Barry, and the kids headed out for a family ride on the 4 wheelers and the ranger.......
Abby wanted to sit in the drivers side and steer while I pressed the gas from the middle of the seat. 5-10 mi/hr on a desolate dirt road.... what could possibly go wrong?

While ascending up a hill, Kade was ahead of us and saw a warning sign in one of the fields, and as he later told me, thought that might mean there were rattlesnakes :))) He hit his brakes and I instinctively hit the imaginary break with my right foot completely forgetting that I was not in the drivers seat! Before I could get to the real break, we slammed right into the back of him! Excuse my language, but it scared the SH*T out of me! Luckily, all that was broken was the tail light. Needless to say, Abby never sat in the drivers seat again the rest of the trip :)

After getting kicked out of the drivers seat, Abby didn't want to ride in the ranger anymore so Barry and Abby took over the larger 4 wheeler and gave Matt the smaller one. He wasn't too happy about it, and it didn't take long to figure out why....
It was slower than molasses! Poor Matt. Not only was he getting left behind, but he had me and Kathy driving behind him in the ranger laughing hysterically! And it only got better from there....
We got to this hill, and he kept lurching himself forward trying to get up it! We were laughing so hard we couldn't breathe! Until finally, it just shut off all together!

Ok, so our stint with the 4 wheelers wasn't quite so lucky....let's try our luck at the lake! A little jet skiing and swimming should make for an awesome day! We arrived at the lake and in the kids went.....

We weren't quite prepared for the weather to be so gloomy. Since it was so cold and windy, we decided to bag the jet ski, and let the kids play in the sand for a bit before fleeing to warmer temperatures.

The kids were really disappointed that they didn't get to swim very much so we took them to the clubhouse pool. We all sat in the hot tub while the kids swam in the pool. Abby wanted to jump off the diving board, but she was scared, because she doesn't know how to swim yet, and didn't know whether or not she could trust the life jacket. So, she started jumping in the 3 feet, and then worked her way down the pool until she finally felt confident enough to jump!

Lia's birthday is Monday so we decided to surprise her with a party Saturday night. Abby helped me bake her cake. We played cranium and watched a movie! Happy birthday Lia!

There was a sign up in the area that said no fires were allowed, but the kids had their hearts set on s'mores, so we improvised.

While we were all cleaning the cabin and getting ready to go that next morning, Barry and the kids went out onto the back balcony, and the door locked behind them! Barry kept trying to call me but my phone wasn't with me. Finally, I went to take something out to the car, and there they were :)
All and all, between crashing, broken down 4 wheelers, and the imperfect weather, it turned out to be a pretty good trip! Thanks to my family for another great vacation!
"Dear Darla,
I hate yer stinkin' guts! You make me vomit! Yer scum between my toes!
Love, Alfalfa"
You had to be there ;)
